Political Correctness

Posted: November 11, 2010 in Uncategorized

Ok a major rant is in order…

Today a guy who posted a comment as a joke about a woman journalist being stoned, has just been on trial!!

Anything that is posted on a social network site is personal to a person, but in this instance why is the costly legal system invoved? He should have apologised for causing offence and then let on his way.

I am starting to struggle to understand the law in this country, people sell drug, commit murders and yet a guy saying a mean thing in jest is reason enough to be taken to court! What is the real crime here? He has offended some women who are muslim who have chosen to read his twitter post!! Seriously why did this go to court?

I know that the legal system wants to police the online world, but this is not the way to do it, especially when they allow grown men to groom children without adequate punishment. We are becoming a society of fools!!

I enjoy having the Internet as a tool to air views that I would otherwise keep to myself and to hear the views of others, but I don’t think that it would be fair if someone got offended with another getting a criminal record! This is just why our media companies rely on press releases, news wires and celebrity gossip because they are afraid to uncover real news at the risk of a jail sentence for trying to get it to the world!

We are a corrupt society afraid to be free, no one dares to have a conflicting thought or idea, deny themselves the chance of thinking differently to change the world!!

The Internet was our world of “free speech” and that is gradually being changed by meaningless court hearings that are trying to make the world Politically Correct… But what is politically correct when everything seems to offend?
