Leadership Accountability does it Exist?

Posted: March 13, 2013 in Uncategorized

Since coming back from my trip, I have tried to put it all behind me after venting it all out in my blog, but I feel I won’t be able.

One of the Christian girls that I got on with is going to an event held by Velocity (Hillsong London’s 25+ group), & she has invited me to go, but I have the worst feeling that Skeletor will be there & I know that girls like her forget how they treat people. I can never forget the wrong I have done anyone. I still remember when I was in primary school & I allowed myself to get caught in bullying, which I felt bad for then & still to this day, even though I apologised then.

I realised from a young age that I couldn’t be a bully, my heart breaks to easily for those that can’t stand up for themselves, but I realise I never really stand up for myself. People who meet me think I’m strong, but it has taken years of growth, battling with my shyness & I still struggle with self-doubt.

Being around Christians who can bully makes me angry, not because I was probably bullied, but because they don’t care. I probably deserve to be bullied, I am not living right by God & so it make sense for Christians to shun me, but when I meet a girl who lives right by God & she is bullied, reduced to tears because she has no idea as to why she has been ostracised by the church leaders she thought would guide her, now that I just can’t deal with.

I am never going to be a power house in the church but this girl could be, she is so dedicated to God & to see her shut out, that makes me question God’s motives. What can He be teaching her?
If this trip had been with any other group, I doubt I would have been this bothered. This probably seems harsh on the Christians, but no other group think they are important/better than any other.

Take a look at recent news, Christians try to dictate EVERYTHING!
Many people feel unloved, because Christians struggle to look past people’s life choices & just show love.

What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.” (1 Corinthians 5:12, 13 NIV)

Just because of what they believe they never have to assess their behaviour, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Christians should be held responsible for their actions because they are supposed to be the light/salt of the Earth.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. (Matthew 5:13 NIV)

How can leaders in the church be held accountable?

I read a book when I was younger (during my passion for God), which expressed the importance of accountability as a Christian, but what do you do when you have no one holding you accountable?
